Life Lately — June
I'm writing this from my couch, still a little tired from Montana, actively refreshing my tracking number for a Nuuly package that should have been here yesterday. Very normal Tuesday.
Big Sky, MT
Last week I was in Big Sky, Montana for one of my best friend's bachelorette trips, and I genuinely don't think I’ll ever get over how beautiful it is there. I know everyone says that about wherever they just came back from, but I mean it — the mountains just sit there being enormous, completely covered in green trees, and you can't really look away.
We rode horses, which I was nervous about and then immediately obsessed with (my horse’s name was Two Eagles and she was a gem). We hiked. We ate really, really well. There was a dinner one night at Horn & Cantle that I will remember forever—great conversation and amazing food! The restaurant/location gives real “Summer Camp” vibes which is always a win in my book.
It was one of those weekends where you're aware in the moment that it's going to be a core memory, which is a strange feeling but also a good one. So happy for the bride-to-be. She deserves it and more.
What’s Coming Up
The summer calendar is somehow already very full, which is the best problem to have.
This Saturday I'm going to a country concert at Pine Knob — for the non-Michiganders, it's an outdoor venue in Clarkston that I've been told is a summer rite of passage. I've only been a handful of times, but each time has been great so I’m excited to go back.
Then the 4th of July is next weekend (which is insane????), and plans are still being finalized in that chaotic group-chat way where everyone is enthusiastic but no one has confirmed anything. Classic. I think it's coming together though. As long as there’s water and a boat, I’ll be happy.
The Nuuly Situation
Completely inspired by some of the girls in Montana, I’ve decided to try Nuuly since I have so many trips and events coming up this summer—it’s a clothing rental subscription where you pick a set number of pieces each month, wear them, send them back, and pick new ones. The idea of having "new" outfits for every trip without actually buying everything new appealed to me in a way that felt both practical and slightly too good to be true.
My first package is supposedly on its way and I've been checking the tracking more than I’d like to admit. I'll do a full honest take once I've actually worn things and sent them back — but so far the selection was genuinely good and I ended up with some summer pieces I probably wouldn't have bought for myself, which is sort of the whole point.
If you're in a similar spot — lots of summer plans, closet that feels stale, mild commitment issues when it comes to buying new clothes — it might be worth a look. I'll report back once I know if the hype is real. Nuuly
Montana hangover is real (not the alcohol kind, the "I was just somewhere incredible and now I'm back to the normal grind" kind). But honestly? A concert Saturday, 4th of July next weekend, new clothes incoming — summer is doing its job.
More soon.
